What A Little Paint Can Do...

There was nothing wrong with my kitchen island but the brown glaze on the corners was really starting to bug me.

So one day while both kiddos were napping I grabbed some black paint & a brush.

Someday I will have granite counter tops with more black in it & then the island will really look sharp. There will also be some new trim work going around my doors that will be black & really tie everything together. But for now, I think it looks much cleaner & I like it.

Ok, so remember this post. Well this is the BIG REVEAL....

I now have a Red Entry Way Chandelier!!!! It is perfect in every way! I LOVE it!!!

Tea Party Birthday

My cute friend Kelsey is amazingly talented in more ways then one. We met back when we were both single. We both have kids who are the same age. I have boys & she has girls. I had a blast making her daughter a necklace for her birthday present. Oh how I want a girl so so bad!
I wanted to use a few different colors so that she could wear it with more then one outfit, so I asked Kelsey the colors she wears most & went from there. Jhett was my model while making it, but it was absolutely darling on Brooklyn. She seemed pretty excited about it too.

Of course you can't go to a Tea Party without getting all dolled up! I wanted to wear one of those huge, obnoxious hats you see at the Kentucky Derby. I found this hat for $5 at Styles for Less. I knew it would work perfectly for the plans I had for it.

A little ribbon, feathers, & one giant flower later I had this.

Perfection.

I happened to be a Goodwill on Dollar day & thought I would try & find a vintage dress to wear. Well I totally scored & about died when I found the most perfect dress. The best part was it had the color tag that made it $1!!!

Here is a close up of the detail.

The final result....

Heck Yes!!!
(Excuse my lame-o smile)

The party was an absolute BLAST!!! Check out more pictures here.

Baby Shower Gifts

My friend & co-worker, Jessy Hayes, is having a baby boy in June! I am so beyond excited for her & this next chapter in her life. Of course I wanted to practice my skills on her so I made her a couple of gifts.

A Monogram Onesie.

I used the Edwig Factory Font on my computer to print out the letter "K" & then cut it out for my pattern. The fabric I got at Hobby Lobby.

It was my first time doing the Zig Zag stitching along the outside edge.

I love how it turned out!

Baby Wipes Case.

This was my very first attempt at making one of these. It was super easy but very time consuming. I have seen these around but the top flap is always covered. I thought I would try one where it could actually be used. The fabric & trim came from JoAnn's.

These were both so fun to make.

Congratulations on the

Baby to Be!

They say money can't buy happiness...

Well I'm here to tell you it can ;)

My husband is THE BEST! Seriously. This chair, he picked it up for $1.00. That is right $1.00!!! This was my mother's day gift. She almost brought a tear to my eye. I was so excited you have no idea! I can not wait to give her a makeover, but until the funds are sufficiant she is sitting upstairs in my loft.

Lace & Ribbon

Yes I have been MIA. You see, the projects I have been working on are gifts so therefore I could not post until after they were given.

I love making picture frames. Right before mother's day I was looking at my favorite craft blogs. On the blog Love Stitched there was a tutorial for a lace frame. I thought the simpleness of it was cute. (The frames I usually make are a bit extravagant). The tutorial actually had the lace going around the picture inside the frame, I decided to just stick the lace on the actual frame itself. Then I trimmed it with some pearls.

For the next frame, I bought some torquoise paint & painted over the black leaving black showing through, then I took some lime green ribbon & glued it along the frame.

Ofcourse my boys totally complete the look & two different ones might I add. These were so simple & yet fun to make!

Easter Edition

Last year I got the boys their Easter baskets from Walmart. They were absolutely perfect! Jhett's has airplanes across the top & Tredd's has cars. These items are significant to their names :)
Well they were just plain blue baskets & I wanted to spruce them up a bit. I printed out their names using the Stencil font on my computer then cut them out & glued them on the baskets. I then took some grocery bags and lined the inside of the baskets up while folding it over to cover the rim. I grabbed some off white spray paint & sprayed over their names, then just peeled off the letters. Viola!
Personalized Easter Baskets!!!

This year I wanted to do something different for their Easter Outfits. I had come across some pictures of little boys in bow ties & suspenders & thought it was so stinking cute! So I grabbed some scrap fabric I had & made some! I was going to full on make from scratch the suspenders. However, just the clips to do it were probably going to be around the same price I found actual suspenders for so I just sewed fabric on top of the existing ones. In the long run this was the cheaper route. I can always change the fabric if I want different ones :)

Here are my handsome little fellows modeling the finished products. Seriously, I could just squeeze them! I LOVE them so so much!!!!

As I was walking around my house looking at my Easter decor I realized I didn't get all crazy this year. Well folks, that will change next year. I already have so many ideas & crafts I will make for next year! But in the mean time, here are a few pictures of what I got up...

Happy Easter!!!

I Seriously Almost Peed My Pants!

So the other day while I was browsing through Goodwill I spotted a box, and inside this box was the most perfect chandelier that I have been waiting a lifetime to stumble across!!! Ok, maybe not a lifetime, but a Really. Long. Time. I grabbed that box like speed of lightning & ran to the front of the store to grab a cart! I browsed the rest of the store but only left with the chandelier.

We have been living in our house for almost 2 years & we still haven't replaced light fixtures that were originally there. The entry way light into my house is hanging by wires from the ceiling & has been that way since we moved in! Sad, True Story. Well it won't be long before this little beauty gets a makeover & will be my Grand Entrance Light!!!

Yes, you read the price tag right! $20 & it has crystals!! I don't think you realize how excited I am. I'm itching to get started on her but with Easter weekend, there is far too much going on, so she will have to wait until next week. Stay Tuned for After pictures!!! Eeek!!!

My Love for...

Hobby Lobby is UNDENIABLE! I'm a frequent shopper to say the least :)

Every week something is on sale & they rotate so eventually everything in the store is on sale at some point. I wait for the sales to get the things I need. (want)

I had been wanting to do something in the upstairs bathroom to hang the boys bath towels on. I could have easily made something but when I saw these monogram hooks, I was hooked!

They were cheap too! Now they have a cute, MANLY bath towel hook! No more towels hanging from doors. YAY!!!

To end this post I thought I would share a picture of the bathroom. Just need to frame the mirror & paint the cabinets & it will be complete!

Bridal Shower Gift

I love wedding receptions. I love seeing the bride in her beautiful dress & seeing how things are decorated. Well... my cute cousin-in-law is getting married! The colors she chose are Turquoise, Apple Green, & Natural. She is also going to be decorating her house in these colors. I was excited when I saw & read her invitation & knew I wanted to make some sort of Home Decor Item. Her new last name is going to be Olsen.

Here is what I came up with...

The scrapbook paper and "O" came from JoAnns. The flower was from Hobby Lobby. (I already had it at home along with the raffia) My gift was a hit! It did turn out pretty cute if I do say so myself ;)

"I'm So Excited...

And I just can't hide it! I'm about to loose control & I think I like it!"

Welcome to my new blog where I will post all the creative things I do. Let me first start off by telling you how much I love getting old furniture!!! Serious. My hubs had the wonderful opportunity to clean out one of his dads semi trailers & boy did he find some treasures!! We have so many ideas & plans I can't hardly stand it!!!

The first thing I grabbed to start working on was a little side table. This beauty had been sitting in that old trailer for more then 10 years! Not much needed to be done to it. I just cleaned, sanded, & roughed it up.

Before

After

Hmm, I may rough it more. You can't tell I did much of anything by the picture. I'm sure she is much happier now being in the comforts of my home. She is Loved.
